An extended cut designed to be screened ahead of a book launch for young teen readers.
A shorter cut created for social media.
For this campaign, I had the opportunity to write and direct a film promoting a young teen adventure book set on a ranch in South Africa. Aimed more broadly at encouraging young readers in urban environments to dive into the joy of reading, the concept centres on one goal: read one page a day.
The film follows several children as they immerse themselves in the story, captured in various comfortable spots throughout their homes over the span of a single day.
Managing my own team and collaborating closely with the Director of Photography, we worked to create soft, natural lighting that transitions smoothly throughout the day, from morning to night, reflecting the passage of time. Special attention was given to set design and wardrobe, subtly including nods to the book’s themes of adventure and wildlife through small easter eggs that add a layer of discovery for viewers.
Both versions presented here are director’s cuts: a longer version designed to build anticipation ahead of the sequel launch, and a shorter edit created for social media, tailored to engage younger audiences on digital platforms.
